Cottage Cheese and Broad Bean Pie, 16th Century, England (Tarte de Favas e Requeijão, Séc. XVI, Inglaterra).

1 pastry (I used puff pastry) - 250g broad beans - 4 egg yolks - 120g cottage cheese - 4 tbsp sugar - 90g butter - 4 tsp ground cinnamon 

To make a tart of Beanes. Take beanes and boyle them tender in faire water, then take them out and breake them in a morter, and strayne them with the yolkes of foure egges, curde made of milke, then season it up with Suger and halfe a dishe of butter and a litle cinnamen, and bake it.

1 massa (usei massa folhada) - 250g de favas - 4 gemas - 120g de queijo cottage - 4 colheres de sopa de açúcar - 90g de manteiga - 4 colheres de chá de canela em pó

Para fazer uma tarte de favas. Pegue nas favas e molhe-as com água morna, em seguida, esmague-as e misture com as gemas de quatro ovos, junte o requeijão, depois tempere com açúcar e manteiga, adicione canela e leve a assar.

The Table of Catarina of Austria, Queen of Portugal (16th century).

   On the 14th of January, 1507, was born in Torquemada, Catarina of Austria. She was the daughter of Queen Joana of Castile,"the mad" and the Archduke of Austria and Duke of Burgundy, Philip, "the handsome", who died before she was born. She was named in honor of her maternal aunt, Katherine of Aragon, the first wife of Henry VIII of England. She remained with her  mentally unstable  mother, imprisoned at Tordesillas castle, until she was about to marry. Joana was still able to fulfill her duties as a mother and made sure Catarina had the same excellent education as herself, preparing her well for future life at court. Catarina was fluent in Latin, Greek and Spanish. She had religious, humanist and classical knowledge. Hoje na História, nasce a Rainha D. Maria II (Today in History was born D. Maria II, Queen of Portugal).

D. Maria da Glória nasceu em  4 de abril  de  1819,  na  cidade do  Rio de Janeiro, no Brasil.  Era a filha mais velha do Rei Pedro IV de Portugal, Pedro  I do Brasil  e da sua primeira esposa, a arquiduquesa  Maria Leopoldina da Áustria .  Pedro ascendeu ao trono português, em março de 1826, como Pedro IV, porém, rapidamente abdicou em favor da sua filha mais velha, então com apenas sete anos de idade. O infante Miguel, seu tio, veio dois anos depois a usurpar o trono, tendo sido declarado rei em 1828. A sua coroa foi recuperada em  maio  de  1834.  Durante o seu curto reinado, um dos mais conturbados, deu-se a guerra civil entre liberais e absolutistas, a revolução de Setembro, a Revolta dos Marechais, entre outros!  A Rainha teve 11 filhos, do seu marido D.Fernando de Saxe-Coburgo-Gota, dos quais apenas sete sobreviveram.
